Research Assistant Position – Wireless Cellular Systems

Job Description
The Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC), Doha, Qatar, invites applications for a full-time research assistant with strong programming skills and experience in system level simulations for wireless cellular systems. Initial appointment will be based on a one-year contract with the chance of extension based on mutual interest. The expected start date is January 2013.

Job Responsibilities
The candidate’s key role will be to develop system level simulation tools for wireless cellular systems under the supervision of research scientists working on QNRF funded research projects focused on next generation heterogeneous cellular networks.
Academic Qualifications
BSc in Computer Science or Engineering (post graduate qualification is highly desirable).
Technical Skills
Essential
  • Strong programming experience in C++/Java and Matlab
  • Ability to architect, develop and run sophisticated simulation tools
  • Good understanding of radio access architectures of cellular systems, notably LTE/LTE-A
Desirable
  • Prior industry experience on cell planning tools
  • Experience with mobile application development for Android platform
  • Experience with GIS tools
Personal Attributes
  • Good English communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.
  • Experience of working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
